The Tendring/Colchester Borders Garden Community is a planned new community, which will be a sustainable and attractive place to live, work and visit – based on Garden Community principles.

The Garden Community will provide new housing and job opportunities. Alongside this there will be transformational infrastructure, such as a new link road between the A120 and A133, and a new Rapid Transit System serving new and existing residents. Development will take place over many years with an ‘infrastructure first’ approach to delivery, which will see key facilities and services provided alongside new homes.

The Tendring/Colchester Borders Garden Community is part of a long-term vision of the Councils to help meet the future growth of the area in a more strategic way.

The planning of the new Garden Community is at an early stage and subject to the Local Plan being found sound and adopted.

The principles, and a Charter, underpinning the Tendring/Colchester Borders Garden Community were originally developed as part of a wider project to propose three Garden Communities across North Essex. We will modify this Charter, in time, specifically for the Tendring/Colchester Borders Garden Community, as the plans evolve. The original Charter document, for reference, can be viewed here.
